SMALL. ROBUST. PIM STABLE.
Designed for compact mobile radio applications

In the future, mobile networks will require RF signal transmission to be implemented with tighter space constraints, less losses and the lowest interferences with regard to passive intermodulation. The IEC introduced 2.2-5 series has taken the successful concept of the 4.3-10 series and turned it into a smaller design to meet the small cells and 5G requirements.

IEC STANDARD

IEC 61169-66

EXCELLENT PIM VALUES:

Independent from mating torque

BROAD CABLE SELECTION
FROM .85 TO 1/2″:

for low losses and long Distances

ROBUST DESIGN:

Advantages of 4.3-10 were duplicated

- sensitive parts are protected

- mechanical sturdiness

COMPACT DESIGN:

Form Factor of TNC

HIGH PROTECTION:

Contact areas protected 3-Mating options: Screw, Hand - Screw, Push - Pull

Compact low PIM RF connectors for mobile radio communications

The 2.2-5 series are new deveploped RF connectors in downsized design to meet the tight space conditions of small cells in mobile applications.

Cooperation

Cooperation of leading RF manufacturers

Series 2.2-5 is being jointly introduced by 7 leading RF manufacturers: Developed by Telegärtner, Co-Developed and successfully field-approved by Kathrein and SPINNER. Supported by Molex, Amphenol, Commscope, JMA and Gigalane.

"With more than 150,000 connector pairs already in our antennas out in the field, we are extremely confident that the 2.2-5 connector series is set to become the standard for applications where the 4.3-10 is too big."

Kathrein

Application

Future proof designed for 5G

2.2-5 series meets the demands of compact mobile communication applications.

Small Cell

Small Cell equipment requires less power and space.

DAS - Distributed Antenna System

Modern Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) have an increasing demand for higher data rates for Indoor Applications where space and capacities are critical.

MIMO - Multi-Band Antennas

More flexibility is possible for design of Antennas thanks to the smaller form factor of the 2.2-5 Interface (Higher Frequency and Higher Data Rates).

Features

Compact design

Adapting the proven 4.3-10 connector design by miniaturizing to the 2.2-5 series. 2.2-5 series has the form factor of a TNC with electrical performance similar to series 4.3-10.

Adapting the proven 4.3-10 connector design by miniaturizing to the 2.2-5 series. The 2.2-5 series has the form factor of a TNC with the same performance of a 4.3-10 for up to 250W.

Cable types

Jack Series 2.2-5

Optimized for: Semiflex cables

In Mobile Radio Equipment, there are typically hand formable Semiflex cables used.

Plug Series 2.2-5

Optimized for: Corrugated cabels

For connections between the Base Station and the Antennas, corrugated cables are the pre- ferred cable types. 2.2-5 can facilitate the most popularly used 1/2″ Jumper Cables, enabling a low attenuation even at long cable distances.
